As Promised...

A picture of my babies...

This is a picture of my girls, the poinsettia is my one month old Juliet and the Peruvian gal in the Texas planter is my one year old Fiona.

I've had other plants before, the first ones being twin bamboos I had named Leah and Adah after two characters in one of my all time favorite books titled "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver. I later on got a third bamboo and named her Rachel after a third character in the same book.

I left my Poisonwood girls with my mother the first summer I worked in Arizona as a senior counselor...they resented that and died.

I had also left her an English Ivy I had named Ruth May after the fourth sister in the above mentioned book...she also died that summer.

I didn't buy another plant until I was in Waco...when there, I felt slightly lonely but didn't want to buy fish to replace the two (Phoenix and Mr. Peacock) I lost in the frost up in Oklahoma during my internship so instead I bought an Ivy and named her Angel...when I packed up to move down to El Paso, I had to give her away...

But last year, I bought Fiona...the first time I saw her dark green leaves and hot pink veins, I knew she was going home with me. So far, she's outgrown three pots...this is her fourth one...and yes, she's a Texas gal although she originates from Peru.

Juliet was a gift from the hospital volunteers to the post partum unit...I noticed she was getting wilted from lack of care and asked if I could take her home...they said yes so I did. And now she's got more space to spread her roots. She's the romantic of the two...doesn't she look like a romantic Juliet?

Well, enough of that...although I am thinking of getting another baby for my 27th birthday in March...my mom isn't happy because I've told her that those two are the granddaughters she keeps asking me for...

For now, at least.
